I have a friend who told me this & I need your opinion: she told me that one of her co-workers sent out a group text to all co-workers about 2 months ago that she was taking a collection for a young pregnant co-worker.."if you would like to chip in $25 to go in on crib, let her know". She received money from people who wanted to help this young woman out. Here's the question, as of Friday 12/21, no one who chipped in for said gift knows what was bought with the money collected as this woman never sent out another text stating what was collected, what was bought or when they are giving this gift to the pregnant co-worker. Just so happens, this young lady is having a personal shower with friends & family in January...at least 5-6 people who chipped in for gift were NOT invited to personal shower, which is fine.. My friend found out that the money collected for the gift from co-workers was being taken to the personal shower by the woman who sent out text for the collection!
My question to the group: Is this okay to be done or do you think like my friend; that the money collected from co-workers for the gift should be given to this young woman at work?
My friend said something to the woman who collected money & her response was " I'm not walking into her shower empty handed" people's names will be on the card who chipped in.....best of all, this young woman received the crib already from family friend ❗ 🤯🤯
